About Tracy King

Tracy King is from the midwest and spent her formative years growing up in the Chicago area.  She attended college at Bradley and Arizona State universities, earning a BA degree in Fashion Merchandising.  After graduating, she continued to migrate further west starting her apparel career with Levi Strauss & Co.  She spent over twenty-five years with the company moving up through the ranks of Sales, Merchandising and Brand Management to eventually attain a variety of positions in senior management.  After her extensive tenure at Levi’s she moved on to work for PHI (a women’s luxury brand in New York) and Lole (a women’s activewear company based outside of Montreal).  Her career allowed her to establish her home in a variety of diverse places including Los Angeles, New York City and San Francisco.

In addition to her business career, Tracy has always had a passion for and commitment to women’s empowerment and indigenous artisans.  She spent nine years working to support  Mercado Global, a non-profit organization comprised of 350 women’s weaving co-operatives in Guatemala.

Tracy’s decision to become an artist occurred at a crossroads in her life.  A time when the left side of her brain felt saturated with the trappings of commerce and the right side of her brain felt unfulfilled.  There was a voice inside that wanted to be heard.  She decided to listen to her inner calling and embark on a new life in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and begin to create.

Her love for travel continues to take her to the far ends of the earth to feed her curiosity, inspiration and art education.

Over the last eight years in San Miguel de Allende,  she has been a part of the artistic tenant mix of the Fabrica la Aurora launching and working in her studio/gallery “Chrysalis.”   In addition to doing her own art she teaches workshops in collage and mixed media fulfilling her desire to help people find their own creative voices.

Tracy, her husband Gary and little dog Gunner are writing a new chapter in Santa Fe New México.
